An American nurse and her child have been reported kidnapped in Haiti, as stated by El Roi Haiti, the Christian humanitarian aid organization where she worked.
Alix Dorsainvil, the wife of El Roi Haiti Director Sandro Dorsainvil, and their child were allegedly abducted on Thursday morning while serving in their community ministry on El Roi Haiti’s campus near the capital city, Port-au-Prince.
El Roi Haiti released a statement on its website acknowledging the incident and highlighting Alix Dorsainvil’s dedication to the Haitian people. The statement described her as a deeply compassionate individual who considers Haiti her home, and she has tirelessly worked as the school and community nurse, providing relief to those in need in the name of Jesus.
The organization expressed gratitude for the overwhelming prayers, care, and support received for their colleague. They are actively collaborating with their partners and trusted relationships to ensure the safe return of Alix and her child, as stated in the organization’s blog post.
Originally a nurse from New Hampshire, Dorsainvil relocated to Haiti when her husband invited her to provide nursing care for children at a Haitian school, as revealed in a video on El Roi Haiti’s website.
According to a statement given to CNN by a State Department spokesperson, U.S. authorities are aware of the abductions and are working in cooperation with Haitian authorities and other U.S. government interagency partners. Ensuring the safety and security of U.S. citizens overseas is the highest priority for the U.S. Department of State and its embassies and consulates abroad, the spokesperson emphasized.

The situation remains concerning as authorities and organizations work diligently to secure the safe release of the kidnapped nurse and her child.
